From September 29 through mid-November, Annie's will be taking their mobile pizza kitchen and organic garden on a 6,000 mile, nationwide, 11 city tour, offering samples of all 3 pizza varieties.  The pre-arranged stops will be at family-friendly events, such as farmers markets, youth sporting events and parks.

Their current tour schedule is:
Sept. 29-30 - San Francisco Bay Area
Oct. 5-7 - Denver CO
Oct. 10 - Des Moines, IA
Oct. 12-13 - Chicago, IL
Oct. 16-17 - Cincinnati, OH

The Slice of Happiness Tour will serve pizza and have a number of family oriented activities. Visitors can take family photos with Bernie, the Annie's mascot. Visitors will also have a chance to win prizes, pizza coupons or an appearance on Annie's "Slice of Happiness Tour" website.   Fans can also show their support by using the hashtag #sliceofhappiness on Twitter or Instagram.

If you are a fan, but Annie's is not scheduled to stop in your area, you can request a special detour stop in your area at www.anniespizzatour.com.  They don't indicate how many detour stops they will make, but if your area gets enough requests, who knows, you may have an opportunity to try sample free pizza.

Today's Free Items - Monday 9/24

We took a quick trip to Target to pick up a few things we needed.  While I was there I found Glade products on sale.  I picked up the following for free:

  • Glade Diffuser Refill (Buy a Glade Diffuser Starter Kit, get a Refill Free)
  • Tyson Chicken Nuggets $4 this week (cost covered by a gift card I earned on a purchase last week)

If you have any coupons from the BzzAgent campaign, you can get the Glade products pretty inexpensively.  The starter kits are priced at $5.99 at my Target.  I used a $4 coupon from my BzzKit and ended up getting a starter kit and a refill for only $1.99.

Today's Free Item - Saturday 9/22

Today I used my 25 Papa John Reward points that I earned from the promotion I posted earlier this month.

We had a birthday party and opted to feed everyone pizza.  Normally 4 Papa Johns pizzas would cost quite a bit.  However it is possible to make it very affordable with a little work.

1 pizza was free with Papa Rewards points.
For the other three, I used a 50% off code (WM100) and a $10 Gift Card I earned from Viggle.  My total out of pocket cost:  $12.90 (including tax)!

Glade Expressions - Oil Diffuser and Fragrance Mist

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the BzzAgent Glade Expressions Collection Campaign.  I already love many of the other Glade products, so I wanted to try something new.
With my BzzKit I got a coupon to try a free Oil Diffuser, and a coupon to try a free Fragrance Mist.  I chose the Pineapple Mangosteen oil diffuser and Fiji Apple & Cardamom Spice fragrance mist.

While I like the Pineapple Mangosteen scent, it's not my favorite.  My husband, on the other hand, liked it so much that after having it at home for a few days, he decided to take it to his office with him!  The nice thing about the oil diffuser is that it has a discreet look to it.  It can kind of blend into the environment instead of being obvious that it's an air freshener.

As for the Fiji Apple & Cardamom Spice Fragrance Mist, I love the smell.  It reminds me of the holidays.  I like that the label comes off and it is a simple white canister sitting on the counter.  One side benefit that works great in our house is how you squeeze it to dispense the scent.  For adult hands, it works great.  I have two preschoolers that will climb to get to the air freshener sprays any chance they get.  With other sprays, once they get their hands on it, they will spray and spray until I find out what they are doing and take it away from them.   However, with the Glade Fragrance Mist bottles, they have not figured out how to get their little hands around it to spray it!

Today's Free Items - Saturday 9/15

If you have not signed up for Staples Rewards yet, I would definitely recommend it.  Each week they send out email with coupons.  One of this week's coupons was for $2 off Hammermill paper.  The reams are $6.99 with a $4.99 rebate (limit 2).  Add in the $2 coupon and you get 2 free reams (after rebate).

Chicken from Zaycon Foods

If you are looking for a good price on chicken breast, check out Zaycon Foods. They are currently taking orders for Arizona (and many other states). For their chicken event, boneless, skinless chicken breasts are sold in 40 lb. cases. The price for Arizona is only $1.69/lb.  They are taking orders from now until 10/2, or until they are sold out.
  • 100 % natural chicken with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients
  • Comes directly from the processor and has never been frozen
  • Sold by the case — 40 lbs in each case
  • Case dimensions—18 in. wide x 12 in. deep x 7 in. tall

  •
I've ordered chicken from them twice and been very happy with the results. The breasts are moist and tender. Since they've never been frozen I cut them up and freeze them when I get them home. If 40 lbs. sounds like too much chicken at one time, consider finding someone to split a case with. I split a case with my mom.

The ordering process and pick-up is easy.
    • Once you sign up, go into your account and select the location where you want to pick up your chicken.
    • Pay for the order online (via their secure site)
    • A day before the pick-up date, you will get a reminder email from them.
    • Drive over to the location of your choosing on the day/time of the pick-up.
    • You simply stay in your car, let them know who you are.
    • They will verify your order and place the appropriate items in your trunk or backseat (whatever location you specify).

    Oral-B Professional Precision 1000

A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to try the Oral-B Professional Precision 1000 toothbrush.  I must say, I am impressed!

I have always had good brushing habits, or so I thought.  Unfortunately, because time has gotten away from me, I ended up going further between cleanings than I should have.  At my last cleaning, the hygienist reminded me of proper brushing techniques.  For some reason the circular motions over each tooth was hard for me to do.  Sounds silly, but I automatically revert back to back and forth motions.

The Precision 1000 solves that problem for me.  The rotating and pulsating movements help me cover each tooth in the proper manner, as described by my hygienist.  The toothbrush will make a short stuttering motion every 30 seconds to remind me when it is time to switch to the next quadrant, and a long stuttering motion to let me know when I've reached the end of the 2 minute brushing time.  From the first time I used it, I enjoyed it.  My gums feel great, like they are getting a massage with each brush.  When I run my tongue over my teeth, my teeth feel so smooth and clean, even hours after brushing.

My husband was a bit jealous, so I picked up a few additional replacement heads so he can enjoy cleaner teeth.  I'm actually looking forward to my next cleaning, since I feel like I'll get a better report from the hygienist.

Oral-B is offering a $20 mail-in rebate on select power toothbrushes July 1 through September 30, 2012.  Please visit OralB.com for more information.
To learn more about Oral-B, check out their website:  www.oralb.com, Facebook page:   facebook.com/oralb, or Twitter:  twitter.com/oralb.

Disclosure:  I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Modern Mom on behalf of Oral-B and received a product sample to facilitate my review.

Recipe - Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

    Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

    Ingredients:
    1 1/3 C. uncooked white rice
    2 2/3 C. water
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
2 C. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
    2 C. shredded Cheddar cheese
1 10.75 oz. can condensed cream of chicken soup
1 10.75 oz. can condensed cream of mushroom soup
    1 onion, chopped
    1 1/2 C. salsa

    Directions:
    1. Place rice and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
    2. Meanwhile, place chicken breast halves in a large saucepan and fill the pan with water.  Bring to a boil and cook for 20 minutes, or until done.  Remove chicken from water.
    3. Cube chicken when it is cool enough to handle.
    4. Chop onion and cook in a small skillet until translucent.
    5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).  Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
    6. In a medium bowl, combine Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses.
    7. In a separate bowl, mix together cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, onion, and salsa.
    8. Layer 1/2 of the rice, 1/2 of the chicken, 1/2 of the soup mixture, and 1/2 of the cheese mixture in prepared dish.
    9. Repeat layers, ending with cheese.
    10. Bake in preheated oven for about 40 minutes, or until bubbly.

This is a flavorful dish even my 2 year old loves.  It makes enough for a second dinner the following week.

    Baby Shower Gift Idea

I wanted to put together a gift basket for a co-worker and his wife who are expecting.  I decided to put my coupon experience to work.  I thought about all of the things we use or used for our little ones and made a list of things that would come in handy.  I waited for each of the items to be on sale and paired the sales with coupons.
I bought a basket at Michael's when I had a 40% off one item coupon.  I'm not a big fan of making a gift basket with cellophane, so I thought I'd try something new, tulle.  It's light weight, it comes in a variety of colors, you can see through it, and it's affordable.

To assemble the basket, I lined the basket with the tulle.  I then placed two receiving blankets in to cover the bottom and sides.  Then I arranged each of the items in the basket.
Simply pull the tulle up and gather it at the top. Tie it off with some decorative ribbon (purchased at Michael's with a 40% off coupon), and trim the tulle as needed.

I found this recipe back in 2004, and you can go HERE to find the original and read more details, but if your lawn is struggling in the summer heat, this concoction can help.

1 Can Regular Soda (any kind - no diet)
1 Can Beer (not light beer)
1/2 C. Liquid Dishwashing Soap (do NOT use anti-bacterial dishwashing liquid)
    1/2 C. Household Ammonia
    1/2 C. Mouthwash (any brand)

Pour all of the ingredients into a 10-gallon hose-end sprayer (other sizes will work too).
In high heat, apply every three weeks.

    Weed Killer Recipe

A quick and easy recipe for weed killer...

    1 T. Dishwashing liquid
    1/4 c. Salt
    1 qt. Vinegar

I usually mix this up a day before I plan on using it.  The salt seems to dissolve better if I mix it up early.  I also find that it works best if I spray the weeds early in the morning so the sun has all day to shine on them.

    Unreal Candy

A couple of months ago I joined BzzAgent.  Recently I was selected for the Unreal Candy campaign.  As part of the campaign I got a coupon for free candy (1.3 oz. to 1.7 oz.).  I also got some Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupons to share.  I love chocolate, so I have been curious to try this candy.  Candy with no artificials, and no corn syrup, plus additional fiber and protein sounds too good to be true.

Today we made a stop at CVS to pick up a few.  We decided on Unreal41 (candy coated chocolates), Unreal5 (chocolate caramel nougat bar), and Unreal8 (chocolate caramel peanut nougat bar).

Once we got home, I shared the candy with my daughter and my husband.  My daughter, an M&M lover, really enjoyed the Unreal41.  My husband and I tried them too, but didn’t think they tasted very chocolaty.  My husband and I each split the Unreal5 and Unreal8.  I thought both of them were actually very good.  My single complaint is that the caramel was too subtle.  While I could see the caramel, I really couldn’t taste it very much.  I was very happy that it didn’t leave any type of odd aftertaste.  Overall, it was a great experience.

    Today's Free Items - Monday 9/3

I made a quick trip to Fry's since my Dial coupons expire at the end of the week.  I managed to get 2 packages of Seafood Snackers (using mfg. coupons) and 3 bottles of Dial hand soap (using mfg. coupons combined with their sale).  Mustard was supposed to be $1 and I had a coupon to cover it, but it rang up at $2.18, making it far from free!

While I was out, I stopped at CVS to pick up some Unreal Candy to try for a BzzAgent Campaign.
